When you look into the crystal clear eyes of a newborn baby who’s breathing loudly and making little noises, it’s easy to say: “my God you are a little miracle.”
By definition a miracle is an extraordinary event. An event that is said to be inexplicable, perhaps even divine. The truth is, research has proven that the probability of anyone of us being born is one and four hundred quadrillion. Yes, really! That number is very very very close to zero. The probability of you being born is almost non-existent, yet here you are. So, yes it’s true that a baby is a miracle.
That baby will grow into an adult, go to school, get a job, maybe marry and maybe have a miracle of their own one day. Here’s a good question: at what point is the baby no longer a miracle? As a toddler? When they reach elementary school, high school? When they become a young adult? When they get a job?
The answer is: we never lose our miracle status.
That miracle baby is you. You are a miracle! No matter what your circumstances were or are now, it doesn’t change this fact. The same extraordinary intelligence that you received at birth is still moving through you today and it’s been moving through you since you were that baby. Even if life has not turned out the way you thought it would or you suffer with anxiety or depression or pain.
You have 30 trillion + cells all of which generate and transmit electricity. You have literally millions of chemical reactions happening in your body hourly. On average your heart beats over 100,000 times per day. You have over 80 billion neurons in your brain that allows information to travel over 260 miles per hour. That means in an instant your amygdala (fear center) can send a message to the hypothalamus (command center) and wala you’re in a stress response.
Any type of fearful thought or worry can create a stress response in the body in seconds. If this happens regularly, which it does for many people (over 50 million people currently on anxiety medication), then you might need an intervention that brings you back to your miracle self.
To re-align yourself with your miracle, you must get out of your head and into your whole body, connect with your heart, regularly. Most people don’t even know what this actually means. It means that the average American lives the majority of their lives over thinking and worrying, which causes a type of disassociation from the body. In other words, body is separate from mind, despite them literally being connected through the spinal cord.
If you want to get out of your head, you must access the body, the breath and your relationship to both. You must be willing and worthy enough to quiet the mind consciously. Move your attention from doing to being through a process. This is the process of Yoga: asana (movement), pranayama (breathwork), dhyana (meditation) and nature in a seamless integrated practice.
This Yoga, the yoga that I’m talking about here is about learning how to love yourself right here and now, no excuses. It’s about claiming the truth about what you actually are: a living breathing miracle of this reality! When you do, you will begin the process of reprogramming all the bullshit lies that you’ve been believing that aren’t true and begin to believe and live into the most basic truth there is:
You Are A Miracle!
